found that input shaft seals appeared to be leaking. They may have been, but the bigger issue is that the flange center seals were re-used from the previous owner and had holes causing them to dilute the CV joint grease so much that it began to lesk out.
Cleaned & repacked with grease, replaced cork seals, replaced output shaft seals, replaced inner flange seals, replaced speedometer cable seal. Transmission no loner leaks.
